அன்றாட வாழ்வே அளவுகோல்

நம்பிக்கையினால் நேர்மையாளர் வாழ்வார் (அபாகுக்கு 2:4) என்பது காலம் காலமாய் வாழ்ந்துவரும் உண்மை, அதையே பவுலடிகளாரும் இன்று முதல் வாசகத்தில் உரக்க கூறுகிறார். கடவுளுக்கு உரியவர்களாக வாழ்வது என்பது அன்றாட வாழ்வில் பற்பல முடிவுகளை உள்ளடக்கியது. ஏதோ ஒரு நாள் ஏற்பட்டு வாழ்நாள் முழுதும் நிலைக்கும் மாற்றமல்ல நம்பிக்கை. ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் ஒவ்வொரு பொழுதும் கடவுளோடு நமக்கிருக்கின்ற உறவில் நிலைக்கும் நம்பகத்தனமே நம்பிக்கையாகும், இந்த உறவில் நாம் எந்த அளவுக்கு நிலையாய் இருக்கிறோம் என்பதே இதில் மையக்கூறாகும். ஆகவே நம்பிக்கை என்பது நாம் மனதில் நிறுத்தக்கூடிய, இறுத்த வேண்டிய சில உண்மைகளை புரிந்துகொள்வதோ நினைவில் வைப்பதோ அல்ல. கடவுளோடு தனிப்பட்ட விதத்திலே வாழப்பட வேண்டிய ஒன்று, அவரோடு வளர்க்கப்பட வேண்டிய  உறவு, அன்றாடம் அவருக்கும் எனக்கும் நடுவே இருக்கும் ஒரு பரிமாற்றம்!

என் மீது அளவுகடந்த அன்பு வைத்திருப்பதால், அவருக்கும் எனக்கும் நடுவே இந்த உறவை உருவாக்க கிறிஸ்துவே தன்னிலை துறந்து இறங்கி வந்து என்னோடு உறவு கொண்டு நம்பிக்கை என்னும் வாழ்வு முழுதும் தொடர்ந்து வரும் உறவை ஏற்படுத்துகின்றார்... நாம் மீட்பு பெறவேண்டுமென்று கிறிஸ்துவே சாபத்துக்குள்ளானவர் ஆனார் என்று நமக்கு நினைவூட்டுகிறார் பவுலடிகளார். என் தகுதிக்கு  முற்றிலுமாய் அப்பாற்பட்ட மாபெரும் கொடையான இந்த உறவை நான் பாதுகாத்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டும், அதில் வளரவேண்டும். நான் கேட்காமலேயே எனக்கு தரப்பட்ட இந்த கொடையை, எனது பொறுப்பு இன்றி என்னால் தக்க வைத்துக்கொள்ள முடியாது. இதை நான் தக்கவைத்துக்கொள்ளாத போது தீயோன் என்னையும், என் மனதையும், என் ஆன்மாவையும், வாழ்வு முழுவதையும் ஆக்கிரமித்துக்கொள்ள காத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான் என்பதை நான் உணர வேண்டும்... ஏனெனில் 'உங்கள் எதிரியாகிய அலகை யாரை விழுங்கலாமென கர்ச்சிக்கும் சிங்கம்போலத் தேடித் திரிகிறது' (1 பேதுரு 5:8). இதை எதிர்த்து நாம் செய்யக்கூடியது ஒன்று மட்டுமே: அன்றாட வாழ்வையே நம்பிக்கையின் அளவுகோலாக கொள்வோம், இறைவனோடுள்ள உறவில் நாள்தோறும்  வளர்வோம்!

Daily Faithfulness and Constant Commitment

Friday, 27th week in Ordinary time 

October 12, 2018: Gal 3:7-14; Lk 11:15-26

One who is righteous, by faith shall he or she live, says the first reading! Being God's or belonging to God means a life full of daily choices. It is not a change that happens once and remains for ever, but it is a daily faithfulness on our part to remain in the same state of grace. Faith, therefore, is not a set of truths that are proposed or discussed; but it is a personal commitment lived, a relationship that is established, a rapport that is built between me and my God!

Because God loved me so much, Christ stoops down to such an extent to initiate that relationship between God and me... Christ became a curse for my sake, reminds St.Paul. It is not enough that such a relationship is initiated by God, a gratuitous gift given to me. It is essential that I keep that relationship going, on a daily basis, filling my life with God and all that pertains to God. If not, there are myriads of other things that are waiting to take possession of my heart. If I am not careful or conscious, they will crowd my heart, drown it in things that truly do not matter at all to my eternal salvation.

As St. Peter warns, 'your enemy the devil, is prowling round like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour' (cf. 1 Pet 5:8). Let that someone not be you or me! The key is: daily faithfulness and constant commitment.
