03.05..2013 - Feast of St. James and St. Philip, Apostles
The Lord
appeared to James (I reading), and Philip asks to see the Father (Gospel)…We
look for signs, we look for assurances, we long for a miracle or a wonder to
stand in awe and recognize the presence of the Lord among us. As we celebrate
the Apostles today, the Word invites us to be grateful for the gift of faith,
and not just that, to grow in faith. Troubles, hardships, failures, broken
relationships, deceptions, disillusionments, darkness, dryness and hurdles –
nothing should make me question the presence of the Lord with me and within me!
Injustices, inhuman acts, treacherous behaviours, violence and vicious
atmosphere – nothing should make me question the presence of God’s everlasting
love and the joy and hope it holds out to the world. That is maturity in faith.
Lord I believe, increase my faith!
