அன்பினால் நீ!

பெரிய வெள்ளி - 30.03.2018

யாருடைய இறப்பிலும், அவர் எதிரியே ஆனாலும், நாம் மகிழ்ந்து கொண்டாடுவதில்லை. ஆனால் கிறிஸ்துவின் இறப்பு நமக்கு மகிழ்ச்சியை தருகிறது... மட்டில்லா மகிழ்ச்சி, என்றும் அழியா மகிழ்ச்சி! ஏனென்றால் இது அவர் நம்மீது கொண்டிருந்த, கொண்டிருக்கும் அன்பின் வெளிப்பாடாகும்... அந்த அன்பினாலேயே நாம் நாமாக இருக்கிறோம். நமது வாழ்வின், மீட்பின், மகிழ்ச்சியின் காரணம் அந்த அன்பே!

அன்பின் அடையாளம் இதயம் என்பர். சிலுவையை மீறிய அன்பின் அடையாளம் உண்டோ! கடவுள் இவ்வுலகின் மீது எவ்வளவு அன்பு கொண்டார் என்றால் தன் ஒரே மகனையே இவ்வுலகின் மீட்புக்காக அளித்தார். இறைமகன் இவ்வன்பை வெளிப்படுத்த பயன் படுத்திய கருவியே சிலுவை. சிலுவை, பாடுகளின் சின்னம் மட்டுமல்ல, அந்த பாடுகளுக்கு உயிரளித்த அன்பின் சின்னம்.

அந்த அன்பின் சின்னம் சிலுவை பேசும் வார்த்தைகள் ஒவ்வொன்றுமே அன்பின் வெளிப்பாடு...

மன்னிக்கும் அன்பு (லூக் 23:34)

அரவணைக்கும் அன்பு (லூக் 23:43)

தேற்றும் அன்பு (யோ 19:26)

ஏங்கும் அன்பு (யோ 19:28)

இறைவனின் சித்தத்திற்கு அடிபணியும் அன்பு (யோ 19:30)

நம்மையும் இறைவனிடம் சரணாக அழைத்திடும் அன்பு (லூக் 23:46)

இந்த அன்பின் அருளை பெற நீ அப்படி என்ன செய்துவிட்டாய்? நினைத்ததுண்டா? அந்த அன்பினாலே நான் வாழ்கிறேன் என்று உணர்ந்து, அதே அன்பை உன் உள்ளத்திலும் வளர்த்திட நீ தயாரா?

30th March - A Lesson on LOVE

At no one's death we will rejoice; but Christ's death gives us a reason to rejoice forever and limitlessly because it brings to the fore the abundance of love that God has for us. 

For God so loved the world that God gave God's only Son... a love that lays no conditions, has no expectations, never gets discouraged, never loses hope and never closes the wide open arms. A love that gives us a very strong lesson: love until it truly hurts!

God's love calls me, chooses me and challenges me... to love as he loved (Jn 13:34)! We hear the words of love from the cross. 

A love that  forgives (Lk 23:34)

A love that embraces everyone despite unworthiness (Lk 23:43)

A love that cares for the beloved (Jn 19:26)

A love that endures extreme anguish for our sake (Mk 15:34)

A love that thirsts for my love (Jn 19:28)

A love that accomplishes every bit of what God wills (Jn 19:30)

A love that invites us to surrender ourselves into the Father's hands (Lk 23:46)

LET US DARE TO LOVE, AS HE LOVED! UNTIL IT TRULY HURTS!

அன்பராய் நீ!

இன்றைய நிகழ்வுகள் மூன்று வார்த்தைகளில் அடங்கிவிடுகின்றன... உணவு, நினைவு, கனவு!

உணவு... தன் சீடர்கள் மீது தான் கொண்டிருந்த அன்பை ஒளிவு மறைவின்றி வெளிப்படுத்தும் கிறிஸ்துவை இன்று காண்கின்றோம். அன்பின் அடையாளமாய் ஒரு விருந்து வழங்குகின்றார். அவர்கள் மீது மட்டுமல்ல உலக மாந்தர் அனைவர் மீதும் உள்ள அன்பை வெளிப்படுத்த அதே விருந்தை பயன்படுத்தி, தன் உடலையே உணவாகவும், தன் இரத்தத்தையே பானமாகவும் தருகிறார். அன்பின் வெளிப்பாடாய் அந்த உணவு சுவையூட்டம் பெறுகின்றது.

நினைவு... உணவு உடலை வலுப்படுத்தினாலும் மனதை வலுப்படுத்த நினைவுகள் தேவைப்படுகின்றன. தன் சீடர்கள் தன் நினைவாய் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்று சிந்தித்த கிறிஸ்து, தனது அன்பை பகிர்வதே அந்நினைவாய் இருக்கவேண்டும் என்று எண்ணி, இதை என் நினைவாய் செய்யுங்கள் என்று, அந்த விருந்தையே நமது நம்பிக்கையின் அடித்தளமாய் விட்டு சென்றார்.

கனவு... இதை தொடர்ந்து செய்ய வேண்டும் என அவர் எண்ணியதன் காரணம் என்னவென்று சிந்தித்தோமேயானால், அவருக்கு இருந்த ஒரு கனவு... இறையரசின் தீமூட்டவே வந்தேன் அது கொழுந்துவிட்டு எரிவதை காண ஆவலாய் உள்ளேன் என்றவர் அவர். தனது இறையரசின் கனவை அவரது சீடர்களாகிய நாம் நினைவாக்க வேண்டுமென விரும்புகிறார் - நம்மிடையே பகிரப்படும் அன்பின் வழியாக.

ஆம், அவரது அன்பின் உணவிலே பங்கெடுக்கும் போது, அந்த உணவின் நினைவை வாழ்வெல்லாம் கொண்டிருக்கும் போது, அந்த அன்பையே நம்மில் கொண்டு பிறரோடு உறவுகொண்டு வாழும் போது, நாம்  அவரது அன்பராய் மாறுகின்றோம்!

இன்று அவரது அன்பராய் நீ வளர முடிவெடுப்பாயா?

29th March - Way to be his BELOVED

We have some 3s to remember today...

     - Supper, Sacrifice and Service

     - Priesthood, Eucharist and Identity

     - Meal, Memory and Mandate

Supper that Jesus shared with the disciples as a sign of his love for them; the Sacrifice that was prefigured in the bread and the wine shared at table; and the Service for which Jesus gave his lived example!

Priesthood that Jesus personified and shared with his apostles; Eucharist that Jesus himself was, the symbol of self giving love; and the mark of Identity that Jesus offered - the love with which the world will identify us as Christ's disciples!

Meal, that shows the relationship that the disciples shared with Jesus; Memory, that Jesus wants to leave behind in his own body and blood; and the Mandate to love each other as Jesus loves us, with a love that is so unconditional, so unlimited and so selfless!

The last three that we can go home with today:

- thanksgiving in our hearts for all the bountiful gifts that the Lord keeps giving, specially through our priests; 

- determination in our will to remember the Lord in our daily struggles that call for sacrifices; and finally 

- a resolve in our minds to love everyone and keep no stock of the hurts and negative experiences we have received from others for no fault of ours.

The Lord loves us...the Meal is an expression of it!
The Lord wishes us to remain in his love... inspired by the Memory of his love!
The Lord commands us to love each other... it is a Mandate his love offers us!  

The Spy Wednesday - Holy Week 2018

March 28 - The Price of a FRIEND

'One of the Twelve'...not necessarily just one of the twelve as the Gospel begins today, but almost all of them were proving traitors in there own turn. They were anywhere between mere onlookers and involved game players, when it came to the climax of Jesus' ministry: the passion and death! It begins of course, with Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve! This day can be called the Spy Wednesday, as it was today that Judas agreed with the Jewish officials to betray Jesus.

Jesus outlook on the twelve never changes: I call you friends, he had said! They were his friends but friends who turned traitors each in their own respect but Jesus' continuous confidence in them as friends, brings them back and they were ready to give their life for Christ's message. They were ready to pay the price of being true friends. A true friend can never be lost!

But Judas failed on that count too - he did not give even the goodness of the Lord, the possibility of working on him! At times people say Judas just played a role that he had to! Let us not be carried away by that type of an interpretation, because Judas had the time and the freedom to choose otherwise. Jesus had given him ample chance to fall in line and think as Jesus would have it: in terms of God's will and not our own schemes!

I remember a quote from the famous writer Paulo Coelho: a mistake repeated more than once is a decision. Out of our deliberate choice, out of our habit or out of a psuedo-inability to decide otherwise, we make wrong choices sometimes and those choices are actually moments when we turn traitors!

As the letter to the Hebrews challenges us: are we ready to fight sin to the point of shedding our blood? (cf. Heb 12:4). Are we ready to pay the price to defend our title as FRIENDS of the Lord? Then, are we ready to belong to the Reign of God in every way, come what may, instead of taking the easiest way out!

தோழராய் நீ!

புனித வாரத்தின் புதன் - 28.03. 2018

கிறிஸ்துவை காட்டிக்கொடுக்க தக்க சன்மானத்தோடு ஒப்புக்கொள்கிறார் யூதாஸ் இஸ்காரியோத்து. நான் உங்களை நண்பர்களென்றேன், என்று தன் சீடர்களை எல்லாம் தன தோழர்களாகவே கருதிய இயேசுவுக்கு  ஏமாற்றமே காத்திருந்தது. இதோ காட்டிக்கொடுக்க துணிந்துவிட்ட யூதாஸ் மட்டுமல்ல, சீடர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் அவரவர் விதத்திலே இயேசுவுக்கு ஏமாற்றத்தையே தந்தனர்... தங்கள் பயத்தாலும், பதட்டத்தாலும். 

ஏமாற்றம் என நாம் கூறினாலும், கிறிஸ்துவுக்கு அது எதிர்பார்த்த ஒன்றாகவே இருந்தது. காட்டிக்கொடுக்கப்பட்டு, மறுதலிக்கப்பட்டு, தனியேவிடப்பட்ட போதும் அவர்கள் மீது அவரது பார்வை மாறவே இல்லை... தொடர்ந்து அவர்களை தோழர்களாகவே கருதினார் - அந்த நம்பிக்கையை முன்னிட்டே அவர்கள் மனம் திருந்தி, கிறிஸ்துவிடம் திரும்பி வந்தனர், எவருக்காகவும், அவரது இறையரசு பணிக்காகவும் தங்கள் உயிரையும் கொடுக்கும் அளவுக்கு தயாரானார்கள். 

ஆனால் யூதாஸோ இறையருளுக்கு அந்த வாய்ப்பை கூட தரவில்லை - தனக்கு தானே முடிவை தேடிக்கொண்டார்! நான் தோழராய் வாழ இயலாது என்று அவரே தவறாக முடிவெடுத்துக்கொண்டார்.

உங்களை என் தோழர்களாகவே கருதுகிறேன், என்று நம்மையும் பார்த்து கிறிஸ்து கூறுகிறார். எத்தனை தவறுகள் நேர்ந்தாலும், நீங்கள் என் தோழர்களே, திருந்தி என்னோடு வாழ நினைத்தால் என் மனக்கதவு என்றுமே உங்களுக்கு திறந்திருக்கும் என்று நம்மை அழைக்கிறார். 

அவரது தோழர்களாய் இறையரசின் மாந்தர்களாய் நாம் வாழ பல சோதனைகளை தாண்டி வாழ வேண்டியுள்ளது... நாம் என்ன செய்துகொண்டிருக்கிறோம்? சோதனைகளை எதிர்கொண்டு பயணித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறோமா? அவற்றை சந்திக்க தயங்கி ஓரிடமாய் நின்றுகொண்டிருக்கிறோமா? அல்லது தவறான நிலைப்பாடுகளால் கிறிஸ்துவை காட்டிக்கொடுக்கும் தோழர்களாய் மாறிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறோமா?

நற்செய்தியாய் நீ!

புனித வாரத்தின் செவ்வாய் - 27.03. 2018

இந்த நாள் முழுவதும் இயேசு தன் சீடர்களோடும், பிற மக்களோடும் இறைவனின் நற்செய்தியை பகிர்வதில் செலவழிக்கிறார். நிகழப்போவது அனைத்தையும் அறிந்தும் ஏன் இன்னும் அவர்களோடு பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார் - ஒருவேளை இறுதி சமயத்தில் அவர்கள் எல்லாம் திருந்தி இறைவனின் செய்தியை ஏற்றுக்கொள்வார்கள் என்ற எதிர்பார்ப்போ, என்று நமக்கு தோன்றலாம். ஆனால் அப்படி ஏதும் இருந்ததாக நாம் காணவில்லை. முடியும் தருவாயாக இருந்தாலும் இதுவே இறைவன் தனக்கு தந்த பணி - இறையரசை அறிவிக்கும் பணி என்பதை ஆழமாக உணர்ந்தவராக இதை செயகிறார் கிறிஸ்து.

மனந்திருந்தி நற்செய்தியை நம்புங்கள் என்ற அறிவிப்போடு தான் அவரது பொது வாழ்வை அவர் தொடங்கினார் என்பது நாம் அறிந்ததே. அதே அழைப்போடு தான் நாமும் இத்தவக்காலத்தை தொடங்கினோம். தான் தாயும் தந்தையுமாம் இறைவனால் அனுப்பப்பட்டவர் என்பதை அவர் ஒருபோதும் மறந்ததில்லை, இறைவன் தந்த பணியை செய்ய மறந்ததில்லை! அதே உள்ளத்தை நாமும் கொண்டிருக்க வேண்டுமென நம்மை அழைக்கிறார் - என் தந்தை என்னை அனுப்பியது போல நானும் உங்களை அனுப்புகிறேன் என்று நம்மை இன்றைய உலகிற்கு நற்செய்தியாளர்களாய் அனுப்புகிறார்.

அறிவிக்கும் முன், இறைவனின் நற்செய்தியை நான் உள்வாங்கியுள்ளேனா, மனம் மாற தயாராய் உள்ளேனா என்று என்னையே நான் வினவிக்கொள்ள வேண்டியுள்ளது. உள்வாங்கி மனம் மாறியிருந்தேன் எனின், நானே நற்செய்தியாய் இவ்வுலகிற்கு விளங்குவேன். இறைவனின் அழைப்பையும், இறையரசின் தேவையையும் உணர்ந்துள்ளாயா? நற்செய்தியாய் மாற நீ தயாரா?

The Preaching Tuesday - Holy Week 2018

March 27 - The task of an APOSTLE

'Hear me', 'Listen' calls the first reading today. This day, Jesus spent with his disciples and all those who were following him into Jerusalem from far and near... He taught them not because they were going to transform themselves ultimately, not because they were deserving of all his kindness and concern for them. No, definitely not! He did know how weak their flesh was in spite of the spirit that yearned to be strong. 

It is simply because, this was the task that Jesus took upon himself at the beginning of this public ministry: Repent, believe in the Goodnews, the Reign of God is near. He was convinced that he was an apostle of God the Father - Just as the Father sent me, so I send you to go and proclaim... we are the apostles of Christ that are sent into the world of today. But before we proclaim, we need to listen, believe and repent, ourselves. 

Today the challenge to us is to weigh our spirit and our flesh, our daily life and its priorities, against the love of God. Jesus knows well the persons who will be soon turning against him, but that does not stop him all the same from loving them, speaking to them and being compassionate about them.

How strong is your idea of yourself as "sent" by the Lord, an APOSTLE? How much do you really care for the people of God who are misled? How much quality time do you spend with people who genuinely care for you?

ஆலயமாய் நீ!

புனித வாரத்தின் திங்கள் - 26.03. 2018

நேற்று எருசலேமில் நுழைந்த இயேசு இன்று ஆலயம் செல்கிறார்... உள்ள தவறுகளை கண்டு வெகுண்டெழுகிறார்... தூய்மை படுத்துகிறார். அவர் இன்று நமக்கு தரும் பாடம் என்ன? அவரோடு பயணத்தை நேற்று தொடங்கிய நாம் முதலில் செய்ய வேண்டியது என்ன?

இந்த ஆலயத்தை இடித்துவிடுங்கள், மூன்று நாளிலே இதை நான் எழுப்புவேன் என்று கூறியபோது தன்னை பற்றியே கிறிஸ்து பேசினார், இன்று இந்த ஆலயத்தை தூய்மை படுத்தும் அவர், ஆலயமாம் நம்மை தூய்மை படுத்திக்கொள்ள அழைக்கிறார்.

நாம் இறைவன் வாழும் ஆலயங்கள் என்பதை உணர்ந்திருக்கிறோமா? இந்த ஆலயம் தூய்மைப் படுத்தப்படவேண்டும் என்று விழைகிறோமா? இதோ இந்த புனித  வாரம் நமக்கு துணை புரிகிறது... எங்கிருந்து தொடங்கவேண்டும் என்று சிந்திக்கும் நமக்கு, உன்னிலிருந்து தொடங்கு என்று அறிவுறுத்துகிறது.

ஆலயமாம் என்னை நான் தூய்மைப்படுத்துவேன் என்ற முடிவோடு இந்த வாரத்தில் நுழைவோம்...

The Cleansing Monday - Holy week 2018

March 26: Realise you are THE TEMPLE

'Six days before the passover', begins the Gospel today. And today was the day when Jesus entered the Temple of Jerusalem, and chased out the merchants and the money changers, expressing his burning zeal for the house of the Lord! That was the climax of the clash between him and his enemies, they thought he has reached the blasting point and they wanted to contain him as soon as possible! But Jesus knew where it is all leading.

Jesus cleans the Temple - to tell us with authority that we are the temple and 

we need a thorough cleaning! Don't we? 

When he said, destroy this temple, I shall raise it in three days, 

he meant his own body! And that is exactly what he tells us here: 

you are the temple of the Lord - enter into yourself and 

make yourself clean and presentable! 

This week is a wonderful opportunity!

The Cleansing Monday, invites us to look at things that we need to cleanse our soul of. 

We are the Temple of the Holy Spirit and what kind of cleaning does this temple need right now? Right note to begin the journey of this week... 

by cleansing and preparing ourselves for all the events!
